SEVEN roads in three Sabah districts have been closed tonight to all types of vehicles due to flooding.
The Sabah Public Works Department in a statement said the seven are Jalan Pinawantai, Jalan Kampung Pengaraban, and Jalan Indrasan in Kudat; Jalan Liu Malibang, Jalan Kabatasan, and Jalan Kanibongan in Pitas; and Jalan Teringai in Kota Marudu.
“The flooding occurred due to continuous heavy rain. A traffic management plan has been set up on the roads involved and continuous monitoring is currently being carried out,” read the statement.
According to the department, only one lane of the Nangoh-Paitan-Kanibongan route is passable due to the flood.
It said Jalan Sebayan in Kudat was cut off due to a landslide, and that a slope collapse was detected on Jalan Radtak Induon in the same district, though it is still passable.
The department earlier reported that five roads in Kudat – Jalan Abdul Rahim, Jalan Sebayan, Jalan Datu, Jalan Bak Bak, and Jalan Lo Thein Chok – have been cut off. – Bernama, January 25, 2023.
