Domestic chicken supply ‘not affected’ by bird flu outbreak in US, Europe

CHICKEN supplies for the domestic market will not be affected by the bird flu outbreak in the United States and Europe, Agriculture and Food Security Minister Mohamad Sabu said today.

According to Mohamad, although there were no bird flu cases reported in the country, the ministry was monitoring the situation from time to time.

“Currently, the supply of chickens is stable, and we hope that this will continue in the future. So far, the bird flu outbreak has not affected supply,” he said in Alor Star today.

Meanwhile, Mohamad said the supply of chickens and eggs is beginning to recover and will take some time to stabilise.

Mohamad added that targeted subsidies for chicken breeders is being discussed with several other ministries, including the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living.
