Active Covid cases drop below 10,000 for first time since November 2020

ACTIVE Covid-19 cases dropped below the 10,000 mark yesterday for the first time in more than two years.

The Health Ministry reported 315 recoveries against 101 new infections yesterday. 

Active infections stood at 9,998, the first time they had dipped below 10,000 since November 11, 2020, when 9,952 were treated for the disease. 

Among the active cases, 9,635 people (96.4%) were in home quarantine and 363 (3.6%) in hospital.

Twelve patients were in intensive care, 10 of whom required respiratory assistance.

No coronavirus-linked deaths were reported yesterday. 

Malaysia reported 101 new infections, with Kuala Lumpur accounting for 24 of them, Selangor (23), Negri Sembilan (11), Sarawak (9), Malacca (8), Johor (5), Kedah (5), Perak (4), Sabah (4), Kelantan (2), Pahang (2), Terengganu (2), Perlis (1) and Putrajaya (1). 

Penang and Labuan did not register any new cases yesterday. – January 25, 2023.
