Anwar arrives in Brunei for 2-day official visit

PRIME Minister Anwar Ibrahim has arrived in Brunei for a two-day official visit.

Anwar was accompanied by his wife, Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, for his second official overseas visit since his appointment, landing at Brunei International Airport at 1.13pm.

Upon arrival, he was greeted by Brunei Crown Prince Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

The prime minister then inspected a guard-of-honour mounted by the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

Tomorrow, the prime minister is scheduled to have an audience with Sultan of Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah at Istana Nurul Iman, followed by a four-eyed meeting between both leaders.

During the meeting, the two leaders are expected to use the opportunity to assess the progress of bilateral relations, further strengthen relations and venture into new areas of common interest.

The prime minister and the sultan will also witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Malaysian Investment Development Authority and the Brunei Investment Agency.

In addition, the prime minister is scheduled tonight to attend a dinner with Malaysians living in Brunei. – Bernama, January 24, 2023.
