PRIME Minister Anwar Ibrahim returned to Wisma MCA today, 25 years after he was expelled from Umno in 1998.

MCA president Wee Ka Siong had invited Anwar to attended the MCA Chinese New Year celebration together with Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Anwar – the PKR president and chairman of Pakatan Harapan – said it was good to be back at the headquarters of his ally when he was deputy prime minister .

“It is good to be back again… Happy Chinese New Year,” he said.

“MCA is an old friend. The good thing is that our friendship never ends, even though we are in different parties and we may have different views from time to time. Now we are back together.

“When I was sacked from Umno, I had to fight. When I was in prison, I couldn’t come (to MCA events), but now I have the space and we are on friendlier terms,” Anwar said.

Anwar has formed a unity government with Barisan Nasional, Gabungan Parti Sarawak, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah and Warisan.

This morning, Anwar arrived at Wisma MCA with his wife Wan Azizah Wan Ismail at 9.30am.
