371 new Covid cases, 4 deaths

MALAYSIA logged 371 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, taking the cumulative cases since the onset of the pandemic to 5,033,625.

Four coronavirus-linked fatalities were reported –  one each in Johor, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Terengganu – raising the death toll to 36,923.

Selangor logged 148 of the new infections, Kuala Lumpur (70), Perak (21), Sarawak (19), Malacca (18), Putrajaya (16), Johor (16), Kedah (14), Terengganu (11), Pahang (9), Negri Sembilan (9), Penang (9), Kelantan (4), Sabah (4), Perlis (2) and Labuan (1).

Active cases rose to 10,390 as 304 patients recovered from the illness. 

Among the active infections, 9,970 people (96%) were in home quarantine and 420 (4%) in hospital.

Sixteen patients were in intensive care, 14 of whom required respiratory assistance. – January 19, 2023.
