PAS is willing to offer Maria Chin Abdullah a seat to contest in the 14th general election under the Gagasan Sejahtera banner if she agrees to work with the party, said its IT director, Mohd Suhaimi Embong.

He said the Gagasan Sejahtera pact is willing to work with anyone.

“We are practising an open policy. Not just with the former Bersih 2.0 chairman, but any person or civil society organisation that’s not a PAS member. If they agree, we can discuss,” he said at the Islamist party’s high-tea event in Lembah Pantai today.

Gagasan Sejahtera is an opposition bloc led by PAS, and among its parties and organisations are Parti Ikatan Bangsa Malaysia and Barisan Jemaah Islamiah Se-Malaysia.

Suhaimi said those in Gagasan Sejahtera will be given seats among the nine that PAS will contest in the Federal Territory.

“The condition that we set is basic. First and foremost, be loyal to Gagasan Sejahtera. The rest of the terms, we will discuss.

“They will also use the PAS logo because, among other reasons, our logo is the most dominant.

“Ikatan is new and many may not be familiar with their logo, and the same goes for Berjasa, although they contested in the previous general election.”

He said the parties, organisations and individuals under Gagasan Sejahtera will not only contest in the Federal Territory, but will also be given seats in other states, depending on availability and the results of discussions.

“Like Abdul Khalid Ibrahim. Selangor (PAS) has offered him to contest in any seat in the state.”

At an earlier PAS event in Lembah Pantai, Suhaimi said the party stands a chance of winning the constituency, provided it gets its election strategy and formula right.

The party plans to run in Lembah Pantai in GE14. This would see a three-cornered fight, involving PAS, PKR and Umno, in the constituency, which was won by PKR in GE12 and GE13. – March 11, 2018.
