THE investigation into the Wisma Jakel fire in Section 7, Shah Alam, which is now in the final stage, has uncovered no criminal element, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) deputy director Wan Md Razali Wan Md Ismail said.
“The investigation into the Wisma Jakel fire has now entered the final stage and no criminal elements have been detected at this stage. We are confident that we will be able to complete the investigation soon,” he told reporters at the launch of a Chinese New Year (CNY) Fire Safety Campaign in Damansara today.
The media previously reported that the leading textile store caught fire twice – on January 1 and 3 – resulting in losses estimated at almost RM100 million.
Meanwhile, commenting on the campaign, he said JBPM conducted spot checks at premises and locations of public focus, to ensure that the locations are safe from any fire hazards.
“As of yesterday we have inspected a total of 28 locations throughout Selangor,” he said.
The CNY Fire Safety Campaign runs from January 2 to 30. – Bernama, January 18, 2023.
