THE Selangor executive council has made several decisions that require immediate action, including allocations for road projects, hillside slope repairs, and maintenance of public facilities, as well as aid for senior citizens in the state, Amirudin Shari said.

In a statement, the Selangor menteri besar said he hopes the assistance and improvement efforts initiated by the state government can ease the burden of the people and help the needy, in line with the government’s aim for no one to be left behind.

Among others, he said, the government has allocated RM50 million for road improvement projects that will be carried out this year.

“This effort, which involves the maintenance and widening of the roads under the state management, will be chaired by Izham Hashim, state infrastructure and agriculture exco,” he said.

He also said that following the Batang Kali landslide, the state government has decided to increase the allocation for slope repair works.

“The state government has agreed to increase the allocation to RM21.1 million for slope repair works based on the Public Works Department’s recommendations,” the Sungai Tua assemblyman said.

“Guidelines regarding business activities as well as camping sites will be worked jointly by the state government and local authorities to improve safety of those carrying out these activities,” he added.

Last year, the landslide in Batang Kali claimed 31 lives, many of whom were children, while 61 people survived the disaster.

Regarding the landslide at Bukit Permai Phase 2 in Ampang, Amirudin said the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council has issued a notice for 15 houses to be vacated, claiming it is unsafe for residents to remain there with current soil movements.

He said bank strengthening works are being carried out while authorities await a full analysis from the Hulu Langat District and Land Office.

Amirudin also said the state government is committed to repair, maintain and upgrade public facilities through Phase 2 of Selangor Penyayang Project.

He said the state assembly will be given RM500,000 for the project, which will begin at the end of February.

The allocation also involves the construction of a Selangor Penyayang Community Complex in each constituency, the Gombak MP said.

Amirudin said the voucher rate for senior citizens for the upcoming festive season has been increased to RM200 per family, while also increasing the monthly income threshold limit from RM2,000 to RM3,000.

He said beneficiaries of the Skim Mesra Usia Emas programme are eligible to apply for this voucher.

“The state government estimates there are 82,400 beneficiaries for this programme, where as much as RM16.8 million will be allocated,” he said. – January 16, 2023.
