THE number of flood victims in Terengganu has increased while the situation in Perak remained unchanged as of this morning. 

IN TERENGGANU, the number of flood evacuees in Hulu Terengganu rose to 71 people compared with 43 last night. The Terengganu Disaster Management Committee (DMC) secretariat in a statement said victims from 23 families are sheltered at the Kampung Kemat Community Hall relief centre (RC). 

The villagers were relocated when their houses were suddenly inundated at 6pm yesterday. 

The statement said the weather is cloudy and rainy in several areas in Terengganu. 

IN PERAK, the number of flood victims at the SK Sahom RC was unchanged at 91 as at 8am today. 

The Perak DMC secretariat in a statement said the RC is housing all the victims from Kampung Sahom. 

The RC that was opened on Wednesday night after the village was hit by flash floods following heavy rain in the evening on that day. 

The flash flood occurred after Sungai Rias in the district overflowed its banks. – Bernama, January 13, 2023.
