AHMAD Zahid Hamidi says he has forgiven the coalition’s lawmakers who had backed the Perikatan Nasional (PN) effort to form the federal government after the general election
However, the Umno president warned the 10 lawmakers that he would be observing their moves.
“The matter is in the past, and the MPs involved are now part of the unity government.
“But I am with the disciplinary board on monitoring them,” he told reporters after visiting the bazaar at the World Trade Centre.
The Bagan Datuk Member of Parliament said he was sure their actions at the time were driven by the uncertainty surrounding the formation of the government.
“I am sure that they were not being vindictive. They made the mistake because of the unpredictable situation then,” he said.
Zahid had named the BN lawmakers who had signed statutory declarations supporting PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin to become Prime Minister at the Umno assembly pre-council meeting with delegates yesterday.
He said the 10 had been told to revoke their statutory declarations (SD) and told them all future decisions will be made by BN as bloc.
The November 19, 2022 general election ended with PH securing 82 seats, Perikatan Nasional picking up 73 seats while BN secured 30 seats, forming the new federal government.
BN opted to go with PH, GPS and GRS. – January 12, 2023.
