MAHDZIR Khalid has brushed aside claims he was involved in a plot to topple the unity government while in London.

The Umno vice-president said he was in London during the purported meeting dubbed the “London Move” but had no reason to topple the government after having pitched for it.

Mahdzir said he supported Umno’s decision to form the unity government with Pakatan Harapan.

“As for why my name was linked to this matter, I can only think that it was to concoct lies.

“I deny it. Yes, it is true that I went to London, but I did not meet those who were mentioned in (the London Move),” he was quoted as saying in new reports during a special session at his office today.

The former rural development minister cleared the air over the matter after a blogger insinuated he was one of two Umno vice-presidents involved in a plot to topple the unity government.

The other vice president was former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who also denied the suggestion that he was in London for the meeting.

Ismail said he was on a holiday with his family in the United Arab Emirates between December 22 and January 3 when the purported meeting took place. – January 11, 2023.
