MALAYSIA logged 380 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, taking the cumulative number of infections in the country to 5,031,076 since the onset of the pandemic. 

Nine new coronavirus-linked deaths were registered – five in Kuala Lumpur, three in Selangor and one in Malacca – taking the death toll to 36,892. 

Of the new infections, Selangor reported 88 cases, Kuala Lumpur (67), Sarawak (51), Kedah (23), Malacca (23), Negri Sembilan (20), Perak (19), Johor (15), Terengganu (15), Sabah (14), Pahang (12), Putrajaya (9), Labuan (8), Kelantan (8), Penang (7) and Perlis (1). 

Active cases dropped to 11,412 after 373 patients recovered from the illness. 

Among the active cases, 10,844 people (95%) were in home quarantine and 568 (5%) in hospital.

Twenty-six patients in intensive care, 11 of whom required respiratory assistance. – January 11, 2023.
