383 new Covid cases, 8 deaths

MALAYSIA recorded 383 Covid-19 infections yesterday, taking the cumulative case tally to 5,030,696.

Eight coronavirus-linked fatalities were reported – three in Selangor, two each in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, and one in Perak. This took the death toll to 36,883. 

Of the new infections, Selangor registered 149 cases, Kuala Lumpur (42), Sarawak (25), Kedah (25), Malacca (24), Negri Sembilan (24), Perak (19), Johor (16), Penang (16), Putrajaya (11), Pahang (10), Kelantan (8), Sabah (8), Terengganu (4), Perlis (1) and Labuan (1). 

Active cases rose slightly to 11,414 after 355 patients recovered from the illness.  

Among the active cases, 10,779 people (94.4%) were in home quarantineand 635 (5.6%) were in hospital.

Twenty-eight patients were in intensive care, 11 of whom required respiratory assistance. – January 10, 2023.
