THE Bar will be providing free legal advice and assistance to people affected by the recent Batang Kali landslide, Bar president Karen Cheah said today.

She added that the Bar will also provide assistance to people affected by the floods in Kelantan and Terengganu.

“The Bar understands that these are very difficult and challenging times, and that the public may have numerous legal questions about their rights arising from these tragedies.

“Recognising this, the Bar – through our National Legal Aid Committee and with the assistance of the courts – will provide disaster legal assistance to the public.

“Members of the Bar and Bar Council Legal Aid Centre will provide legal advice and assistance to those affected for free,” Cheah said today, adding that the service will be open to all residents of Malaysia, regardless of their nationality. – January 9, 2023.
