ASIC Offshore and Marine Sdn Bhd (ASIC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with PT Dok dan Perkapalan Kodja Bahari (Persero) (PT DKB), the largest state-owned shipyard in Indonesia, entering into a strategic partnership.

The signing was held at Jakarta and witnessed and endorsed by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Minister of International Trade and Industry Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz and Minister of Foreign Affairs Zambry Abdul Kadir together with their Indonesian counterparts Minister for Public Works and Housing Dr Ir M Basuki Hadimuljono and Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi.

The event was organised by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (Miti) and Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) and facilitated by the embassies of Malaysia and Jakarta together with the government of Indonesia.

According to the agreement today, both ASIC and PT DKB would be able to leverage their expertise in their respective fields and work together towards their common goal of capturing a bigger market share in the oil and gas and maritime industry.

ASIC group managing director Jazli Rahimi said the company is confident that the cooperation with PT DKB would further strengthen ASIC’s footprint in the Asia Pacific region.

“We are looking towards a long-term economic development where doors will be opened for Malaysian companies to carry out businesses in Indonesia via ASIC.

“Our aim ultimately is to become the market enabler by providing a platform for Malaysian companies to enter the Indonesian market.

“Collaboration with state-owned government company like PT DKB as our strategic partner in Indonesia could enhance our strong brand image and presence in the local industry with the estimated contract value of RM500 million projected within the next two years,” he said.

ASIC group executive director Nur Farina Khalil said the ASIC Group of Companies, PT ASIC Energi Nusantara and ASIC Shipping and Renewable Sdn Bhd, would strengthen their commitment towards providing a dynamic total solution to support the long-term economic development in Indonesia, which is consistent with ASIC’s vision to bring Malaysian expertise to the global market.

ASIC’s marketing director (Indonesia) Errie Tri Rosadi said he is confident that the MOU with PT DKB would create a unique synergy to serve the economic growth in Malaysia and Indonesia.
