UMNO liaison committee chairman Ab Rauf Yusoh and Malacca Chief Minister Sulaiman Md Ali have denied rumours that the latter is set to be replaced.

Ab Rauf said the rumours were nothing more than slander.

“Please stop such slander because we are monitoring individuals who play up such issues regarding the state government. Our relationship is one of good friendship,” he said.

He added that from the beginning, both had agreed that whatever happens, there will be no secrets between them and that the current rumours are nothing more than slander that is an embarrassment to the state that has been able to win two-thirds of the peoples’ trust.

“It is very unfortunate that there are leaders who spew slander to create disunity between us, including Kamarulzaman Jantan (Umno Masjid Tanah committee). I urge such leaders to stop these slander because only death can separate us,” he said.

Sulaiman stressed that the main focus now was to continue the agenda of developing Malacca and not entertain rumours that are baseless.

He said the people must not be concerned with issues raised by such groups to disrupt the peace and harmony enjoyed by all.

“We three are long time good friends, therefore, do not raise such issues but rather let us focus on our duties because this will also reflect on the people of the state,” he said in the same video clip.

The media had reported that Sulaiman who is also the Lendu state assemblyman had denied claims stating that his chief minister’s post will go to Ab Rauf. – Bernama, January 7, 2023.
