THE government must ban the sale of alcohol after 10pm at 24-hour outlets, Ramesh Rao Krishnan Naidu, special officer to Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, said today.

He said drinking alcohol late at night would usually lead to excessive consumption, increasing the risk of incidents such as road accidents, fights, and crime.

“The ban will protect the younger generation from engaging in activities that are not beneficial, pointless, and harmful to them,” he said in a statement today.

Ramesh, who is also president of civil society group Pertubuhan Minda dan Sosial Prihatin, said such a ban can protect the community from the dangers of alcoholism. – Bernama, January 7, 2023.
