THE Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has announced the appointment of Muhammad Azmi Mohd Zain as its interim chairman.

He takes over from Mohamad Salim Fateh Din, who was appointed in June 2022, also as interim chairman, and resigned in December the same year..

Azmi is an administrative and diplomatic officer who has 26 years of experience in the public sector in various ministries and government departments, MCMC said in a statement.

He is also the director-general of the Department of Director-General of Lands and Mines and the Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Ministry.

“MCMC is confident that Muhammad Azmi’s extensive experience in public service will help MCMC’s efforts to boost the development of the telecommunications and multimedia sector,” according to the statement.
