ACTIVE Covid-19 cases declined to 11,415 as Malaysia registered 543 new infections against 688 recoveries yesterday. 

Four coronavirus-linked deaths were reported yesterday – two in Selangor, one each in Pahang and Putrajaya – taking the death toll to 36,870. 

The new infections were logged in Selangor (162), Kuala Lumpur (87), Malacca (46), Sarawak (44), Penang (34), Perak (30), Johor (25), Putrajaya (24), Kedah (22), Negri Sembilan (19), Sabah (14), Terengganu (11), Kelantan (10), Pahang (10), Perlis (3) and Labuan (2). 

Of the active cases, 10,828 people were in home quarantine (94.9%) and 587 were in hospital (5.1%).

There were 33 patients in intensive care, 14 of whom required respiratory assistance. – January 7, 2023.
