THE Batang Kali-Genting Highlands road in Hulu Selangor, which has been closed since December 16 following a landslide tragedy, will be open to traffic at 5pm tomorrow but it will still be monitored by the authorities.
The Public Works Department, in a statement today, announced that a temporary route will be opened with only one lane and it would limited to workers in Genting Highlands with an employer’s letter.
Only class one vehicles (cars, taxis and multi-purpose vehicles) and class 6 vehicles (motorcycles and scooters) will be allowed to use the route.
The department said motorists using the road are not allowed to stop at the landslide section.
“Users should be careful and adhere to all signages as work to monitor the slope is still being carried out,” it said.
The department also urged road users to use alternative routes, such as the Ulu Yam-Batu Caves and Kuala Lumpur-Ipoh routes, to reduce congestion.
