Housewife charged with operating illegal dental clinic


A woman has claimed trial over charges of illegally operating a dental clinic from a hotel in Kuala Terengganu. – EPA pic, January 4, 2023.

A HOUSEWIFE was charged at the Kuala Terengganu Sessions Court today with illegally operating a dental clinic in a hotel room in Kuala Terengganu two years ago. 

Norazia Abdul Rahman, 41, claimed trial after the charge was read out before judge Nazlyza Mohd Nazri. 

The woman was accused at 5:55pm on August 20, 2021, to have operated an unregistered dental clinic by offering dental veneer placement services from a hotel room at Jalan Sultan Zainal Abidin. 

She was charged under section 4(1) of the Private Healthcare Facilities and Services Act 1998, which carries a fine of up to RM300,000, a jail term of up to six years, or both, upon conviction. 

The judge allowed the accused bail of RM3,500 with one surety and set February 6 for remention. 

Representing the prosecution was Health Ministry prosecution officer Nozaizeli Abu Samah, while the accused was not represented. – Bernama, January 4, 2023.
