Cops investigate claim Batang Kali victim’s Touch ‘n Go card was stolen, used

POLICE are investigating an allegation on Facebook that someone used a Touch ‘n Go card belonging to one of the Batang Kali landslide victims.

Hulu Selangor police chief Suffian Abdullah said the message uploaded on December 16 was believed to have been by a relative of the victim.

He said the message claimed that the victim’s Touch ‘n Go card had been used.

“Police received two reports on the incident at 2.47pm today.

“A paper has been opened to investigate the case for theft,” he said in a statement today.

While police investigate, Suffian advised people to remain calm.

He said the victim’s relatives are also advised to contact the police if they have any issues related to the loss of the victim’s belongings.

The Batang Kali landslide on December 16 claimed 31 lives, 12 of which were children including a one-year-old baby boy. Some 61 people survived the tragedy. – Bernama, January 2, 2023.
