PERIKATAN Nasional chairman Muhyiddin Yassin today urged the government to take immediate action to ensure the people are protected from the new Covid-19 variant which has been detected in several countries.

In a New Year message on Facebook, the former prime minister also asked the government to help ease the people’s financial burdens in 2023.

“The poor are growing in number. More than 60% of our country’s population are in the low-income group. (Therefore,) they need immediate protection from the government,” said the Bersatu president.

“Let us pray that our country is protected from any calamity and that we can all live in peace and harmony,” said the former National Recovery Council chairman.

He also advised the public to listen to the Health Ministry’s advice on Covid-19 preventive measures, including booster doses of the vaccine. – Bernama, January 1, 2023.
