TOLL rates at two major highways in Klang Valley – the Sungai Besi Expressway (Besraya) and the Kajang-Seremban Highway (Lekas) – will be reduced after midnight, Alexander Nanta Linggi said.

The works minister said the new rate for Class 1 vehicles on Besraya is RM1.85 for those travelling from the Loke Yew and Mines (North and South).

He said the current charge is RM2 for a one-way trip on Besraya.

He said the toll charge for Class 1 vehicles on Lekas has been reduced from 0.18 sen/km to 0.17 sen/km.

A Class 1 motorist will pay RM7.80 for a one-way trip on the Lekas from the first entry point to the final exit.

Nanta said concessionaire IJM Corporation Bhd agreed to the reduction after a decision at the December 21 cabinet meeting.

“The reduction is part of an agreement to restructure and review toll rates decided by the government and it will be effective throughout the concession period.

“The government is able to save compensation estimated at RM1.98 billion throughout the concession period for both highways.

“The savings will enable the government to channel resources to meet the needs of the people as we are concerned with the rising cost of living,” he said in the statement. – December 31, 2022.
