THE Negri Sembilan Islamic Religious Affairs Department (Jheains) found a pile of decorative pieces featuring verses from the Quran that was dumped by irresponsible parties on the roadside in the Arab Malaysian Industrial Park, in Nilai this afternoon.

Head of Operations Unit from Jheains Enforcement Division, Ahmad Zaki Hamzah, said acting on public information, his team, together with personnel from the Seremban City Council, state Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SWCorp) and the Nilai District Police Headquarters, went to the area at about 4.30pm.

“Upon arrival, we found a pile of decorative pieces, mainly in the form of picture frames. Some Quranic verses did not comply with the stipulated regulation, but terms such as Allah and Muhammad were correct.

“This irresponsible act causes unease among Muslims, as it is very sensitive when it comes to the word Allah,” he told Bernama when contacted.

Zaki said Quranic verses should be disposed of according to prescribed shariah law, adding that the industry, traders or the public can contact Jheains to get guidance on this matter.

The case is being investigated under Sections 49 and 50 of the Syariah Criminal (Negri Sembilan) Enactment 1992, and Jheains has also lodged a police report for further action. – Bernama, December 27, 2022.
