THE flood situation in Kelantan and Terengganu continues to improve, while the number of evacuees has dropped slightly in Perak. The situation in Sabah and Sarawak remains unchanged.
IN KELANTAN, the last relief centre in Tumpat district and one in Pasir Mas were shut today, leaving only three centres still open in Pasir Mas as at 4pm today.
The three centres are housing 209 people from 68 families compared with 718 people from 246 families in five centres this morning. From that total, 178 people are at SK Kedai Tanjong, 17 are at Pusat Tarbiah Nasrullah Pohon Buloh, and 14 are at SK Banggol Chicha.
IN TERENGGANU, the number of evacuees in Besut dropped to 53 people from 12 families compared with 138 people from 41 families this morning. The relief centre at Balai Raya Kampung Pantai was closed at 10am, leaving only the centre at Kampung La mosque still in operation in the district.
IN PERAK, the number of evacuees in Hilir Perak dropped slightly to 50 people from 10 families from 60 people from 13 families this morning. They are housed at Dewan SMK Abd Rahman Talib.
IN SABAH, the number of evacuees in Kota Belud remained unchanged at 135 people from 56 families, with 62 people from 26 families being housed in Dewan SK Pekan, while Dewan SJKC Chung Hwa is housing the remaining 73 people from 30 families.
The number of residents in coastal areas living in stilt houses who were evacuated to relief centres in Sandakan and Pitas due to tidal surges rose slightly to 1,471 people from 303 families this evening compared with 1,454 people from 299 families this morning.
IN SARAWAK, 91 people remain in Dewan Masyarakat Kampung Lutong in Sebuyau and Dewan Serbaguna Kampung Rimba Padi in Serian. β Bernama, December 27, 2022.
