MALAYSIA recorded 609 new daily Covid-19 cases yesterday, the Health Ministry said.

Active cases now stand at 13,997, down 22.1% as opposed to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states were as follows: Selangor (236), Kuala Lumpur (57), Penang (56), Malacca (47), Kedah (34), Sarawak (30), Negri Sembilan (26), Pahang (23), Perak (21), Putrajaya (21), Kelantan (17), Johor (15), Sabah (11), Terengganu (7), Perlis (4) and Labuan (4).

No Covid-19 related deaths was reported yesterday – the first time since October 23.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,831 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

There have been 147 reported Covid-19 deaths this month, against 209 deaths in November and 101 in October.

There are 725 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised, with 43 in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (49), followed by Sabah (34) and Kedah (24). – December 26, 2022.
