KHAIRUDDIN Abu Hassan has slammed some party members whom he says are attempting to tarnish the legacy of Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

The former Federal Territories Pejuang chief called them “hypocrites” and “traitors” who covered their weakness and blamed others.

He said this group had blamed him, Pejuang deputy president Marzuki Yahya and central executive committee member Abu Bakar Yahya of influencing the party’s former chairman for making wrong decisions for the party.

“These political hypocrites and traitors are now twisting the story and accusing those who strongly supported Mahathir’s cause,” he said in a statement.

But he did not name anyone by name but vowed to fight them if they continued to attack him.

Last week, Dr Mahathir resigned as chairman of Pejuang, the party he founded in 2020, while Khairuddin threw in the towel as Pejuang’s Federal Territories chief on Tuesday.

In a statement, Khairuddin also announced the dissolution of the Federal Territory leadership council committee.

Khairuddin said he took his cue from Dr Mahathir’s resignation.

“My struggle from before, now and forever is based on my support for Dr Mahathir, who is always principled and has never cheated in any of his struggles to uphold the truth for the race, country and religion.

“I only gave my best and most trusted service to Dr Mahathir. Once his resignation was accepted by the Pejuang political bureau and conveyed to the executive council meeting on December 15, 2022, my service in Pejuang became irrelevant,” he said.

Pejuang was set up on October 12, 2020, with the aim of developing the country, improving the people’s well-being, and fighting against abuses of power and corruption. – December 22, 2022.
