KELANTAN Umno chief Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub is to be reappointed as Felcra Berhad’s chairman, Deputy Prime Minister Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said. 

His reappointment comes just days after the cabinet decided to immediately terminate the services of all politically appointed chairmen and board members.  

“The appointment is carried out following new regulations….the formalities associated with the appointment will be carried out by ministry secretary-general Ramlan Harun soon,” said Zahid. 

Zahid, who is also rural and regional development minister, was speaking to reporters after officiating the 40th anniversary cum annual general assembly of Felcra Malaysia Berhad’s cooperative yesterday. 

Previously, Chief Secretary to the Government Mohd Zuki Ali had announced in a circular that all political appointments in statutory bodies at the central government level and in government-linked companies would end immediately.  

Ahmad Jazlan, who is the former Machang MP, was first appointed the Felcra chairman on  October 1.  

He is among many senior Umno leaders who were defeated in the recent general election, losing his Machang parliamentary seat to Bersatu youth leader Wan Ahmad Fayshal Wan Ahmad Kamal. – December 17, 2022.
