THE paved road in the area hit by the landslide in Batang Kali appeared not to be damaged and no cracks were found on it said Alexander Nanta Linggi.
The works minister said there were no visible cracks on the state road B66 and added that the landslide covered an area of 300m from a height of 70m.
He noted that the state road was under the purview of the Selangor Public Works Department (JKR).
“Checks and visual inspection found that the affected area involved a part of the state road for about 5m.
“Based on the inspection, no open cracks were found on the surface of the paved road.
“JKR and various agencies are actively involved in the search and rescue (SAR) mission.
“The forensic team of the JKR Malaysia Slope Engineering branch is on site to conduct further investigation,” he said in a statement today.
He said police had closed B66 and traffic was rerouted to alternative roads.
Sixteen people have been found dead so far after a landslide at the Father’s Organic Farm campsite in Gohtong Jaya, near Genting Highlands, at about 3am.
One of the deceased was a child and search and rescue operations are continuing. – December 16, 2022.
