FORMER Ketereh MP Annuar Musa will not be appealing his sacking from Umno, which he said was unwarranted.
Annuar said that he had received a letter on Monday from Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan informing him that his party membership had been terminated
“I have made the decision not to appeal. Because to appeal, I need to know what I did wrong.
“If I didn’t do anything wrong, then why appeal? I have come to the conclusion they (Umno) don’t need me anymore,” he said in a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.
On Friday, Ahmad confirmed Annuar was among three divisional leaders who had been fired by the party. The other two were the party’s women’s wing’s leaders Fatimah Kassim of the Maran division and Shamsiah Yassin of Arau.
He said the three were dismissed in accordance with clause 10.6 of the Umno constitution, after they were found to have breached clause 20.9 on party ethics.
“Three people have been stripped of their membership with immediate effect, who are Fatimah, Shamsiah and Annuar. The letters (of termination) will be delivered soon,” Ahmad had said.
Annuar said he did not know why (got sacked) as he was not called up (by Umno).
“Until now, I don’t know the main cause (for sacking). Nobody asked me anything. All I got was a letter. So, why do I need to appeal?
“Umno is huge (party). No one is indispensable. I accept the decision of the president to sack me.”
He also said he will not join any political party for now as he wants to focus on MN.
As for his dismissal, he said he has written to Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on the matter.
“I have written a letter to the president to give an explanation. In the last part of the letter I stated that we have a difference of opinion.
“Who is right… we leave that to Allah,” he said without elaborating on the contents of the letter.
Annuar added that there were a lot of other people who acted aggressively against the party, but were not booted out.
“Those who even signed SDs (statutory declarations) supporting a certain individual, they weren’t sacked.
“In fact, I wasn’t a candidate (in the general election) and I campaigned (with Barisan Nasional), but I was sacked.”
Meanwhile, Annuar reiterated that MN is a registered civil society organisation.
He said to date the group has received about 20,000 membership applications.
He also announced that the MN supreme council line-up will include former Tanjong Karang MP Noh Omar, former Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin and former Segamat MP Edmund Santhara Kumar among others. – December 15, 2022.
