THE number of flood evacuees has declined in Pahang and Terengganu, and remained unchanged in Perak, Kelantan and Johor.
In PAHANG, the number of evacuees dropped to 387 people this morning compared with 435 last night, with 210 of them taking shelter at a relief centre in Temerloh, 142 at one centre in Pekan, and 35 evacuees in two centres in Bera.
The state Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) secretariat said Sungai Triang in Bera is still at danger level, while five rivers – Sungai Pahang in Lubuk Paku and Sungai Luit in Maran, Sungai Pahang in Pekan, Sungai Belat in Kuantan, and Sungai Keratong in Rompin – are at warning level.
Based on the weather forecast by the Meteorological Department, a thunderstorm is predicted in Temerloh and Bera in the evening.
In TERENGGANU, the number of flood evacuees dropped to 69 from 22 families this morning from 80 (24 families) last night. They are being housed at a relief centre in Kuala Terengganu (55), Besut (12) and Setiu (2).
In KELANTAN, the number of flood evacuees in Pasir Mas this morning remained unchanged from 2,018 people from 635 families last night, with all of them being housed at seven relief centres.
The centres are SK Tok Deh with 712 evacuees, SK Kedai Tanjong (47), SK Gual Periok (544), Masjid Mukim Padang Licin (73), PPS Putat Tujoh (157), SK Kubang Kual (251), and SK Sri Kiambang (234).
In PERAK, the number of evacuees remained at 147 from 39 families, housed at four relief centres, namely, SMK Abd Rahman Talib in Hilir Perak, Sekolah Agama Rakyat Padang Serai in Manjung, Dewan SK Slim River in Muallim, and Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Tersusun Teluk Memali in Perak Tengah.
In JOHOR, the number of evacuees remained at 51 as at 8am, Segamat being the only district affected by the disaster. – Bernama, December 14, 2022.
