History has been made today with the Michelin Guide becoming available locally. The guide for 2023 recognises the high standards of Malaysian cuisine and will feature restaurants and street food in Penang and Kuala Lumpur.  

Of the 61 restaurants featured, 27 are from Kuala Lumpur and 34 are from Penang. 

The following four eateries received one star from the guide: from Kuala Lumpur — Dewakan and DC by Darren Chin, and from Penang — Aunty Gaek Lean’s Old School Eatery and Au Jardin. 

Gaining or losing a star may have a considerable effect on the fortunes of a restaurant. – December 13, 2022.
