POLICE have arrested the driver of a trailer involved in a multi-vehicle crash at KM69 of the East-West Highway (Gerik-Jeli) on October 29.

Gerik police chief Zulkifli Mahmood said the accident occurred at 11am and the 47-year-old driver was arrested on the same day at a roadblock at Batu Melintang Jeli in Kelantan, before being taken to the Gerik police headquarters for further investigation.

“The incident happened after the white ceiling load on the trailer, which was heading from Gerik to Jeli, fell and landed on a Subaru Forester while the trailer was negotiating a bend.

“Three other vehicles were also involved,” he said in a statement after a video clip of the crash was posted on social media today.

He added that the 29-year-old Subaru Forester driver escaped unhurt, but his 31-year-old wife was seriously injured and referred to Tanah Merah Hospital in Kelantan, while all the other victims sustained light injuries. – Bernama, December 12, 2022.
