BUNG Moktar Radin and his wife Zizie Izette Abdul Samad have filed an appeal against the High Court’s decision to reject their motion to review the Sessions Court order calling for their defence on three corruption charges.

The couple are accused of soliciting bribes of RM2.8 million relating to a RM150 million investment in a Public Mutual Berhad fund.

Deputy public prosecutor Law Chin How said the appeal notice was filed at the Court of Appeal on Friday, while noting no change to the current trial schedule.

In Friday’s hearing Judicial Commissioner Azhar Abdul Hamid upheld initial objections from the prosecution against the motion.

Bung was charged on May 3, 2019, with two counts of receiving bribes of RM2.2 million and RM262,500 as inducements to obtain Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority approval to invest RM150 million in a Public Mutual trust fund.

He was also charged with receiving RM337,500 in cash from Unit Amanah consultant, Norhaili Ahmad Mokhtar, under Zizie Izette’s name for the same reason, while she faces three counts of abetment. – Bernama, December 12, 2022.
