THE number of flood evacuees in Terengganu grew overnight to 599 as of 8am today, compared to 308 last night.
The state disaster management committee secretariat said Kemaman was the latest district to be hit by rising floodwaters, requiring three relief centres to be opened last night.
The statement said Dewan Abdul Rahman Limbong was converted to shelter 235 people, SK Kemasik (28) and SK Kampung Baru Kerteh (21).
In Kuala Nerus, 133 people remained in SK Tok Jembal and 76 more SK Bukit Nanas.
In Kuala Terengganu, 44 people were housed in SK Atas Tol and 16 in SK Chendering.

IN PAHANG, after five districts were hit by floods following heavy rain since yesterday, 537 people were in eight relief centres as of 8am today.
The state disaster management committee secretariat said the Temerloh district recorded the highest number of evacuees at 380, followed by Lipis (79), Jerantut (34), Bera (25) and Raub (19).
Two rivers in Pahang, namely Sungai Lipis in Batu Malim, Raub and Sungai Triang in Bera rose to dangerous levels.
Rain is expected in the afternoon in Kuantan, Pekan, Jerantut and Rompin, while thunderstorms could hit several areas in Temerloh, Maran, Raub, Cameron Highlands, Bentong and Bera.
IN KELANTAN, 280 people were in a relief centre in the Pasir Mas district as of 9am today, compared to 120 last night.
Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang rose to a height of 9.66m and looked set to rise higher. – Bernama, December 11, 2022.
