BERSATU secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin has been selected to represent Perikatan Nasional (PN) as the opposition leader in Dewan Rakyat.
PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the appointment was decided at a recent meeting where they had set up a committee among the 74 lawmakers in PN.
He said it was also decided that Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin would be appointed chief of PN’s MPs while PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang would be his deputy.
“We had agreed to appoint the Larut MP (Hamzah) as the PN’s Opposition leader.
“Muhyiddin and PAS president will be the PN MPs’ chief and deputy respectively. As Kota Bharu MP, I have been appointed as a whip for the PN,” he said at Bunut Payong state seat’s thanksgiving ceremony, reported the New Straits Times.
He said that PN had submitted the opposition leader’s name to parliament recently.
Takiyuddin also said that they maintained their previous stance that PN would not join the new government and would become the opposition in the Dewan Rakyat. – December 10, 2022.
