THE Kuala Lumpur High Court today granted Najib Razak permission to issue third-party notices against six former SRC International Sdn Bhd directors in the US$1.18 billion (RM5.2 billion) suit filed by the company against him.

The six ex-directors are Suboh Md Yassin, Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil, Mohammed Azhar Osman Khairuddin, Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi, Ismee Ismail and Che Abdullah @ Rashidi Che Omar.

SRC previously removed the six from the suit and retained Najib as the sole defendant.

Judge Ahmad Fairuz Zainol Abidin granted the leave following the application from Najib’s counsel, Harvinderjit Singh, with no objection from lawyer A. Thenesh on behalf of SRC.

The court ordered that the notices be delivered to the relevant people within 14 days after they are filed.

Harvinderjit said his team would file the notices next week.

SRC as the plaintiff alleged that Najib, who was SRC’s emeritus adviser from May 1, 2012, to March 4, 2019, had abused his power, obtained personal benefits from the company’s funds, and misappropriated the funds.

SRC, which is now wholly owned by the Ministry of Finance Inc, is seeking general, exemplary and additional damages, as well as interests, costs and other appropriate reliefs deemed fit by the court.
