UMNO has sacked Ketereh Umno chief Annuar Musa, according to news reports.

Annuar, a former communications and multimedia minister, was among three divisional leaders that the Umno Supreme Council sacked at a meeting last night.

“Three people – two women’s division chiefs and one division chief – for disparaging the party and campaigning (for an opposing party), are sacked,” Umno supreme council member Puad Zarkashi was quoted as saying.

However, Puad declined to reveal the identity of the two women’s division leaders.

Nevertheless, the New Straits Times reported that the two women’s division chiefs sacked were former Perlis Umno chairman Shahidan Kassim’s wife Shamsiah Md Yassin, who was also Arau Wanita chief, and Maran division chief Ismail Abd Muttalib’s wife Fatimah Kassim, who was the Maran Wanita division chief.

Zahid did not speak to the media following the supreme council meeting last night but tweeted about the decision.

“Alhamdulillah. The supreme council meeting has concluded.

“Hopefully, the decision made together will bring benefit to the party and Malaysia in general. Umno will continue to fight for all,” he tweeted.

Previously, Umno sacked four members who contested against the party for parliament seats in the general election, namely, Shahidan (Arau), Ismail (Maran), and Zahidi Zainul Abidin (Padang Besar), as well as Kuala Perlis assemblyman Azhar Ahmad.

All of them were dropped by the party for going against Zahid who had refused to cooperate with Bersatu and PAS under the Muafakat Nasional banner.

Meanwhile, asked about the alleged misappropriation of RM600 billion under the previous Perikatan Nasional-led government, Puad said the supreme council was leaving it to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s discretion.

On the probe into former attorney-general Tommy Thomas and Tabung Haji, Puad said Umno has agreed that the government should expedite the royal commission of inquiry.

The proposed RCI on Thomas is in regard to his book “My Story: Justice in the Wilderness”.

“We discussed pursuing the RCI against Thomas and Tabung Haji, and the taking of action against the former Bank Negara governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz,” Puad told reporters after the meeting of the party’s supreme council at Umno’s headquarters.

The RCI on Tabung Haji was established on January 21 to investigate the fund’s management and operations from 2014 to 2020. It was supposed to present a report on its findings to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong within six months. – December 9, 2022.
