THE five federal ministers from Sarawak will meet Premier Abang Johari Openg to seek his input on matters they will focus on regarding Sarawak.

Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof said the meeting scheduled for later today would also enable the newly appointed ministers to get an update on the latest developments in the East Malaysia state.

Fadillah, who has been entrusted with managing Sabah and Sarawak affairs, will discuss issues concerning the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) with Abang Johari.

He said he had asked Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Armizan Mohd Ali to get input from the Sabah government on the same matter.

“We will try to quickly resolve any arising matters (from MA63) which can be settled in a month,” he told reporters at the Kuching International Airport today.

“There may be several matters which may need parliamentary approval, and we will bring them to the Dewan Rakyat,” he said.

The other federal cabinet members from Sarawak are Works Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi, Tiong King Sing (tourism, arts and culture), Nancy Shukri (women, family and community development) and Aaron Ago Dagang (national unity).

On December 5, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said Fadillah had been entrusted with focusing on Sabah and Sarawak affairs, especially the MA63.

The deputy prime minister is also tasked with helping to reduce the economic gap between the people in Peninsular Malaysia, and Sabah and Sarawak. – Bernama, December 8, 2022.
