POLICE are investigating a video showing a traffic officer on duty in Petaling Jaya, which was uploaded to social media yesterday.

Petaling Jaya deputy police chief Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said police were alerted to the 25s TikTok video at 6.30pm yesterday.

“The video clip uploaded by @goodmorninglim shows a police officer during a traffic enforcement operation near the traffic lights on Jalan PJS 3/44, targeting drivers who use communication devices while driving.

“The video carries an insulting caption: ‘05/12 Look got people here cari makan’, with laughing and money bag emojis,” he said in a statement today.

He accused @goodmorninglim of causing people to be suspicious of the police and tarnishing its image. 

“The case is being investigated under section 500 of the penal code and section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for defamation and misuse of social media,” he said. – Bernama, December 6, 2022.
