PRIME Minister Anwar Ibrahim said he has almost completed his cabinet line-up and would be announcing his ministers “within two to three days”.

He also said he would be having an audience with the king tomorrow morning at 8am before heading to Ipoh for a packed schedule.

“We must expedite resolving problems with all component parties because we need to quickly form a cabinet to be assented to by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.”

“We can make the announcement if possible within two to three days. God willing,” he said at a gathering with reformasi activists, based on a video posted on his Facebook page.

Earlier the Star Online reported that Anwar will announce a partial cabinet line-up today.

Quoting sources, the report said Anwar was expected to do so somewhere between 4pm to 5pm.

A source said that negotiations with the heads of all parties was ongoing, therefore not all portfolios could be announced.

However, it was understood that the two deputy prime ministers would be named. Barisan Nasional chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chief whip Fadillah Yusof are widely tipped to be chosen.

Anwar was sworn in as the prime minister on November 24 and it is close to two weeks since the country went to the polls on November 19.

It was first believed that Anwar would be announcing his Cabinet yesterday or today.

However, the Prime Minister’s Office has released the prime minister’s schedule for today, which states that he will be in Ipoh and Tambun for the first time since the November 19 elections.  – December 2, 2022.
