GERAKAN president Dominic Lau Hoe Chai has asked his party members to focus on state elections expected to be held in six states next year.

He said now that the general election is over, the party machinery is ready to face the state elections in Kedah, Penang, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Kelantan and Terengganu.

He added that voter support for the party and Perikatan Nasional (PN) has grown as seen in the recent polls.

“We found that 34% of first-time voters, especially Malays, had voted and given their support for PN.

“Apart from this, there was an increase in votes for Gerakan candidates in the last Malacca and Johor elections,” he told a press conference after a post-general election review in Kuala Lumpur today.

Lau said the party will help campaign for PN candidates in Padang Serai in Kedah and Tioman in Pahang after voting for both these seats were postponed.

The Election Commission announced December 7 as polling day for both seats with early voting on December 3, with a 13-day campaign period having begun after nomination on Thursday and set to end at 11:59pm on December 6. – Bernama, November 26, 2022.
