PRIME Minister Anwar Ibrahim is not considering becoming finance minister position “at the moment”.

“We will look at all possibilities but at the moment I have not considered that,” he said.

Anwar said his first day in office was good and busy with a lot of issues to be resolved.

Anwar was finance minister for eight years from 1990 to 1998.

Meanwhile, after taking over the Prime Minister’s Office at Perdana Putra, Anwar said he is looking to recruit fewer ministers than the previous administration, while cutting cabinet salaries.

Anwar said parties that had joined his government were due to propose names for his consideration.

The three largest component parties forming the unity government are Pakatan Harapan (PH), Barisan Nasional (BN), and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

Anwar was earlier reported to have said the cabinet would be reduced to a maximum of 25 ministers, compared to 31 under the previous administration. – Bernama, November 25, 2022.
