PAS is considering Anwar Ibrahim’s offer to join his unity government, party secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said.

“Regarding the prime minister’s offer to Perikatan Nasional to form a unity government led by him, PAS thanks him and will discuss the matter with other PN components in the near future,” he said in a statement.

“We will also survey the views of the public, especially voters, who gave encouraging support to PAS and PN in the general election.”

PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin had rejected the king’s suggestion to form a unity government with Pakatan Harapan, saying the coalition would not work with PH.

Muhyiddin also claimed that he has support from 115 MPs, to form a simple majorty government.

However, it didn’t take PN long to make a u-turn. PN secretary general Hamzah Zainuddin yesterday said the coalition will consider the deal.

Anwar, 75, was sworn yesterday before Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

The king had appointed the PH chairman him to the country’s top office. This was after the Conference of Rulers met yesterday morning in a special meeting in to discuss a solution to the stalemate that ensued after none of the coalitions won a majority in the elections. – November 25, 2022.
