NOMINATIONS for the Padang Serai parliamentary and Tioman state constituencies will take place today.
Already confirmed candidates will still need to be present at the nomination centres, the Election Commission (EC) said, so they can draw lots to determine their position on the ballot paper.
Nomination will take place from 9am to 10am, at the Kulim Hi-Tech Sports Complex Hall in Padang Serai, and Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Jubilee Hall, Rompin, for Tioman.
The EC set polling day for December 7 and early voting on December 3.
Polling in both constituencies was postponed following the death of candidates: M. Karupaiya from Pakatan Harapan (PH) for Padang Serai and Md Yunus Ramli from Perikatan Nasional (PN) for Tioman.
Karupaiya, 69, died on November 16 of a heart attack, while Yunus, 61, died on the day of the election.
Karupaiya was set to stand against Hamzah Abd Rahman (GTA-Putra), C Sivaraajh (Barisan Nasional-MIC), Bakhri Hashim (Warisan), Azman Nasrudin (PN-Bersatu) and independent candidate Sreanandha Rao.
Meanwhile, Yunus was competing against Sulaiman Bakar (Ind), Osman A. Bakar (GTA-Pejuang), Mohd Fadzli Mohd Ramly (PH) and Mohd Johari Hussain (BN). – Bernama, November 24, 2022.
