NOH Omar has quit as Selangor Umno chief after having lost the confidence of its president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The former Tanjung Karang lawmaker told reporters that he had decided to throw in the towel after Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi dropped him as a candidate in the general election.

He said this signaled a loss of confidence in his stewardship of the party’s state chapter.

“When the president no longer has confidence in me, I would like to announce that I am officially resigning as Selangor Umno chairman,” he told reporters after attending Umno’s political bureau meeting chaired by Zahid.
