MUHYIDDIN Yassin said his coalition is confident of forming the federal government after securing 73 seats and declared that he had received a letter from the palace on what Perikatan Nasional needed to do.

“We have received a letter from Istana Negara with specific instructions on the requirements we need to fulfill according to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong,”

“We will have a meeting tomorrow and hope to have an answer by the evening. We will have to comply with Istana Negara’s instructions,”he told a press conference.

It could not be determined if a similar letter was sent by the Palace to Pakatan Harapan which has claimed it had won 84 seats.

Muhyiddin said Perikatan Nasional (PN) will not form a coalition government with Pakatan Harapan (PH) after the general election concluded with a hung parliament with none of the three coalitions securing a simple majority of 112 seats.

“No PH” was the PN chairman’s reply when asked if PN would enter into coalition with PH.”

The Pagoh lawmaker said he will discuss with political parties in Sabah and Sarawak which had won on joining PN to form the federal government. – November 20, 2022.
