PAKATAN Harapan’s (PH) Rodziah Ismail has clinched the Ampang parliamentary seat, leaving its incumbent Zuraida Kamaruddin losing her deposit.

The win proves that the Ampang parliamentary seat is very much a PKR seat, with Rodziah winning with 29,681 votes.

Zuraida, who had won her previous three elections under the PKR ticket, lost the seat contesting under the Parti Bangsa Malaysia banner.

She had defected from PKR during the Sheraton move in February 2020 which saw the fall of the PH-government. She later joined Bersatu.

Ampang witnessed a nine-way tussle, where besides Rodziah and Zuraida, the others contesting were Ivone Low Yi Wen (Barisan Nasional), Sasha Lyna Abdul Latif (PN), Nurul Ashikin Mabahwi (Pejuang), Lai Wai Chong (Warisan) and three Independent candidates, M, Raveendran, Muhammad Shafiq Izwan Mohd Yunos and Tan Hua Meng. – November 20, 2022.
